Fall Of An Empire

I watched the twin towers collapse
To millions of ashes
With tears rolling from its eyes
Blinded by its own speckle of dust

I watched the pyramids at Giza
Crumble back to sand
As though bowing to its mother - the land
After forgetting her when it had already touched the skies

I watched the Great Wall's hollow crevices
Led its way to its breaching
Only to find the cracks came from within

I watched the brave fall of Spartans at Thermopylae
Just because a traitor showed the way to their enemy
Blood was shed for countrymen
Yet showed no shade of gratitude.
